Turkey remains full of surprises

I’ve not written on here for some time – but during that entire time I’ve remained in Turkey, spending much of my time wildcamping along the south coast. If at the start of my trip here I thought Turkey was a great motorhoming / wildcamping / get-away-from-the-madness destination, then all of that has been reconfirmedContinue reading “Turkey remains full of surprises”

Wonderful Gouda, Holland

We’re back on the road again! With the travel restrictions finally being lifted, Olli and I left from Harwich in the UK late last night on the overnight ferry to Hook of Holland in the Netherlands. I like coming on that route as it’s close to Suffolk where I’m usually based when I’m in theContinue reading “Wonderful Gouda, Holland”

Summer at Lake Balaton (again!)

I’ve been back at my usual camping spot in the South of Lake Balaton, but the first few weeks were still a continuation of the rain I experienced in Budapest. So here, with a series of ongoing posts, I’d like to share my experience hopefully in a way it might help you, should you be considering going toContinue reading “RV travel in Turkey: Crossing the border”

Campsite review: Alexandrovo Camping, Haskovo, Bulgaria

Where: In the South East corner of Bulgaria, 1 1/2 hours outside of Plovdiv, on the way to Turkey. The website of Alexandrovo Camping suggests they are Bulgaria’s friendliest campsite – and they are not kidding. Wow. But I could also have thought of “best”, “most amazing”, “unbelievably great” for that description, without any hesitation.Continue reading “Campsite review: Alexandrovo Camping, Haskovo, Bulgaria”

Wrapping up the summer season

Wow. How quick did that go? I can’t believe I’ve been based around Lake Balaton in Hungary since mid-May, and it’s now September. It really feels like I only arrived a week or so ago. The campsite will close next weekend (9 Sep) and most people here are packing up. For some of my otherContinue reading “Wrapping up the summer season”
